The Maritime Employers Association (MEA) received a notice this morning from the Port of Montreal Longshoremen's Union - CUPE Local 375 announcing a three-day strike at the Viau and Maisonneuve container terminals.
This strike notice, effective from Monday, September 30th, 2024, at 7 am, to Thursday, October 3rd, 2024, at 6:59 am, strictly targets the two terminals of Termont Montreal, namely the Maisonneuve terminal and the Viau terminal.
What to Expect
- The strike will result in the suspension of mooring services normally provided by longshoremen and cargo handling at the Termont terminals (Maisonneuve and Viau).
- Access to these terminals will be prohibited, and no rail, vessel or truck services will be provided.
- Other terminals at the Port of Montreal remain operational.
The Montreal Port Authority (MPA) invites customers to contact or consult the websites of the various terminal operators for more precise information about their situation.
