Canada Revokes Russia and Belarus from Most-Favoured-Nation Tariff Treatment

Canada has revoked the Most-Favoured-Nation Tariff Treatment for Russia and Belarus, effective March 2, 2022.

This results in the application of the General Tariff for such goods. Under the General Tariff, a tariff rate of 35 per cent will now be applicable on virtually all of these imports. Russia and Belarus will join North Korea as the only countries whose imports are subject to the General Tariff. Where Most-Favoured-Nation (MFN) rates are higher, the higher rates will continue to apply.

This does not apply to goods that were in transit to Canada on or before March 2, 2022.
