Canada Updates Import Requirements for Organic Dairy Products
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has provided guidance concerning the importation of organic dairy products from chapters 04, 09, 18, 19, 21, 22 and 35 of the Customs Tariff.
Importers will be required to confirm possession of the organic product certificate at the time of import. A copy of the certificate should be provided to your broker in order for them to have a copy on hand.
Some of the food categories that will be impacted include but are not limited to:
- Dairy Produce
- Coffee, Tea and Spices
- Cocoa and Preparations
- Miscellaneous Edible Preparations
- Beverages, Spirits and Vinegar
- Modified Starches
