End of Steel Safeguard Tariff Rate Quotas
End of Steel Safeguard Tariff Rate Quotas
As of October 24, importers will no longer be required to apply for shipment-specific import permits to import subject goods free of the safeguard surtax and are to use General Import Permit No. 80 or 81, as applicable, for their shipments.
Importers are reminded that the Government of Canada has added reporting and recordkeeping requirements to General Import Permits No. 80 and 81. Providing complete and accurate information in customs declaration forms will enhance the reliability of the data and reduce the burden of post-clearance auditing. Importers may refer to the Notice to Importers – Serial No. 1032 for detailed information on these import requirements and procedures.
