Hurricane Debby – Impact to East Coast Ports
Tropical Storm Debby strengthened into a Category 1 hurricane over the northeast Gulf of Mexico and made landfall around 7 a.m. on August 5th, 2024.
The Hurricane Center is predicting that the storm will bring major flooding to the Southeast over the next several days, and remnants are expected to slowly move across the East Coast.
Georgia Port Authority has advised that Garden City Terminal will be closed on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024, with plans to reopen on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024.
South Carolina and North Carolina could see up to 30 inches of rain. This week’s schedules and receiving dates will be severely impacted because of this storm, especially in Savannah and Charleston.
Expect changes throughout this week and into the next.
