Phase VII of Lacey Act Enforcement to Begin December 1st, 2024
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has confirmed Phase VII enforcement will begin December 1st, 2024. In this phase, a Lacey Act declaration will be required for all remaining imports of plant products that are not made of 100% composite materials.
Each Lacey Act import declaration under Phase VII will need to include the following information:
- Scientific name (genus and species)
- Country of harvest
- Quantity of the plant material in metric units of measure
- Manufacturer Identification Code (MID)
- Name/contact information of the Importer of Record (IOR) who is certifying the accuracy of the declaration
Products included in this phase of enforcement are varied and include:
- Articles of leather, travel goods and handbags
- Basketware and wickerwork
- Footwear
- Tools and cutlery
- Machinery
- Boats and vehicles
- Musical instruments
- Furniture, bedding and mattresses
