SIMA Alert – Certain Oil Country Tubular Goods 4 from Austria 
 
Notice of preliminary determination  
Ottawa, October 25, 2021 

On October 25, 2021, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), pursuant to subsection 38(1) of Special Import Measures Act (SIMA), made preliminary determinations of dumping with respect to Certain Oil Country Tubular Goods 4 from Austria.  

Provisional duties will now be payable on the subject goods from Austria that are released from the CBSA on or after October 25, 2021. (Click here to view rates

SIMA Alert – Certain Copper Pipe Fittings from United States, South Korea and China 
 
Notice of initiation of expiry review investigation 
Ottawa, November 9, 2021 

On November 8, 2021, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) initiated an expiry review of its orders made on November 28, 2016, concerning,  

Dumping of certain copper pipe fittings originating in or exported from, 
1) United States 
2) South Korea 
3) China  

Subsidizing of certain copper pipe fittings originating in or exported from China. 

As a result of the CITT’s expiry review, on November 9, 2021, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has initiated an expiry review investigation to determine whether the expiry of the orders is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping and/or subsidizing of the subject goods.  

The CBSA will make a determination no later than April 7, 2022, and will issue a Statement of Reasons by April 21, 2022.

SIMA Alert – Certain Concrete reinforcing bar from Turkey 

Notice of close of record and updated schedule 
Ottawa, November 9, 2021 

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has now closed the record of the normal value review of certain concrete reinforcing bar (rebar) exported to Canada from Turkey by İçdas Çelik Enerji Tersane ve Ulaşım A.Ş. 

The normal value review is part of the CBSA’s enforcement of the Canadian International Trade Tribunal’s (CITT) order issued on October 14, 2020, respecting the dumping of certain concrete reinforcing bar from China, Korea, and Turkey and the subsidizing of certain concrete reinforcing bar originating in or exported from China, in accordance with the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA). 

The updated schedule for this normal value review is now available. Interested parties will now have seven days from the close of the record to file submissions concerning this review.
