Further Congestion Expected at Shanghai & Ningbo Ports Due to Typhoon Shadell

Overview 

Following our previous announcement, Shanghai and Ningbo ports continue to be impacted by the backlog caused by the previous typhoon. Although port operations have gradually resumed, vessel delays and schedule disruptions remain.  

Impact of Typhoon Shadell 

As Typhoon Shadell approaches the eastern coast of China, port operations may face further disruption depending on the typhoon’s path and intensity. Potential impacts include: 

• Temporary operational restrictions or suspensions  

• Delayed vessel arrivals and departures  

• Changes to port calls and berthing schedules on short notice 

• Additional congestion and vessel queues outside port limits 

Any further disruption could add to the existing backlog and prolong current vessel and schedule delays. A shortened operational window could result in additional vessels accumulating outside the ports and may further affect sailing schedules and container movements.

We recommend that importers plan for potential delays on shipments moving through Shanghai and Ningbo in the coming days. 

Estimated departure and arrival dates (ETD/ETA), transshipment connections and vessel schedules should be considered subject to change.
