Canada – Northern Ontario Wildfire Impact on Rail Service
Ongoing wildfire activity in Northern Ontario is currently affecting transportation networks across the region, including rail operations. As a result, shipments moving through affected corridors may experience delays until conditions improve.
Overview
Rail traffic between Sioux Lookout and Armstrong, Ontario is currently disrupted due to wildfire-related access restrictions. Some locations within the affected area remain closed or under evacuation orders as a precaution.
CN is awaiting clearance to re-enter the area and begin recovery efforts. Until access is restored, delays are expected, and no timeline has been provided for the resumption of normal operations.
Intermodal Operations Update
- Intermodal terminal gates remain open and loading operations continue for customers with confirmed reservations.
- Train departures remain subject to wildfire conditions and network accessibility.
- Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) has advised that its operations are not currently affected but continues to monitor the situation closely.
