Canadian Rail Strike - Delmar Solutions
Canadian Rail Contract Negotiations – Unprecedented Railway Shutdown Ahead - Delmar Solutions
Further to our previous update, the Teamsters union issued a 72-hour strike notice to Canadian Pacific (CPKC) late Sunday. The possible strike or lockout of more than 9 000 Canadian rail workers will affect Canada’s two major railways – Canadian National (CN) and Canadian Pacific (CPKC).
Both CN and CPKC issued statements that they will issue a lockout notice on August 22nd, 2024, unless an agreement or binding arbitration is achieved.
Delmar’s Solution
Delmar is pleased to provide a transload/truck solution to expedite containers to final destinations across Canada for goods moving via Port of Vancouver and Port of Halifax.
Should a rail stoppage continue for an extended period, it is likely that both warehouse and trucking capacity will become strained. As a result, this could cause delays, higher costs and challenges across the Canadian supply chain.
Delmar will continue to monitor the situation and adjust its solution as the situation unfolds.
